Chenzhou Fedaration of Trade Unions, the leading organ of the trade union organizations, is a mass organization of the working class in the city. Its main duties are: to protect the legitimate interests and democratic rights of the workers and staff members; to mobilize and organize the workers and staff members to take part in construction and reforms; to represent and organize the workers and staff members to take part in the administration of the state and social affairs; liaise closely with workers, listen to and reflect their views and requirements and serve them wholeheartedly.

By the end of 2010, there are 11 federations of trade unions at municipal and county levels, 51 federations of municipal industries and 258 trade unions at townships and sub-district levels.
